The watercolor piece of A Lunar Shimmer on the Horizon was created in June of 2023 for my father. My family and I took our sixth vacation to Florida during that year and during one evening in the condominium my parents rented for the week, a full moon was creating such an enthrallingly winsome glow on the ripples of the ocean, so I decided to take a photograph of the moon because I wanted to remember that moment. However, when I took the photograph with my phone, the image appeared to be taken during the day instead of in the evening and the moon appeared to be the sun in an opaquely grey-blue sky. I felt rather intrigued by what my phone captured during that evening, so I decided to create a watercolor painting of the photograph, but I also added some violet and blue colored clouds to persuade viewers that the image was captured in the evening instead of in the day.
